When a family

first receives a diagnosis for a life threatening illness, life changes forever. Families who are in need reach out to us regularly, some asking for assistance with some very basic needs. At Hi Kid Foundation, we are a team of volunteers who are motivated by our passion to help others and to help alleviate some of these families’ needs.

In many cases, these families lack items for their home like domestic or household goods, while others need basic products, and at times, much more. Hi Kid Foundation kindly accepts donated items in good condition as well as monetary contributions. Continue reading our website to learn more about what we do.

Mission

Our mission is to make dreams a reality for kids who suffer from life-threatening diseases, or permanent incapacity, such as cancer or other serious illnesses. At the same time, we strive to provide moral, economic, and academicsupport while helping families manage their situation. The Hi Kid Foundation understands what families have to deal with while they take care of their children and we wish to be part of the process to help provide them with a better overall quality of life.

Vision

Our vision is to be a foundation of connection. We want our mission to go beyond borders and other institutions to help families in need.

Our story

began 17 years ago

Our story began 17 years ago, when in 2003, we came up with the idea to bring a group of children of low-income families from Venezuela, who were suffering from life-threatening diseases while in remission.

The International Foundation Friends of Children with Cancer, headquartered in Miami contacted Elizabeth Arnaud. The foundation asked Elizabeth to help them find lodging, discounts to theme parks, transportation, food, etc. They collaborated together and sent 12 children to Disney. They enjoyed a week full of adventures, parties, and other fun activities that offered them a fun and shareable experience. They also had the option to help these kids find a sponsor or a godmother/godfather to donate $100 in order to buy food or any basic need item. Over a span of 6 years, they provided these kids with the same experience, carefully increasing the amount of kids; first 12, then 15… 20, and 45.

After Elizabeth Arnaud went through the amazing experience of organizing this trip to Orlando and planning the activities for these children, she decided that she wanted to establish her own foundation that would allow her the opportunity to help kids like these every year and also help low-income families in Central Florida with children who had life-threatening illnesses.  The Hi Kid Foundation was founded with a group of volunteers who became part of a committee that had a mission to help support families while they go through the battle of fighting a life-threatening disease.
